Par Botes rejoined Pure Storage after a 4 year stint in an AI startup as the Vice President for AI
Infrastructure. His prior roles at Pure Storage includes Head of Product Management of all
Pure products and services as well as head of Product and General Manager for Flashblade
from its inception to release. In his role as VP of AI Infrastructure, Par manages an engineering
team to deliver future product innovation.

Par has more than 35 years of IT experience specializing in large scale storage systems, online
transactional systems, very large databases, networking, storage technologies and data
protection. He is named as an inventor on nearly 50 issued patents relating to software and
data storage design and is a frequent industry speaker on system and storage architecture and
large-scale commercial systems.

Earlier in his career Par spent seven years as the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
for EMC Corporation for Asia Pacific and Japan, where he was responsible for technology
strategy and the development of regional products and initiatives. Notably, Par led the
development of several key initiatives including Symmetrix-C, later renamed to VMAX 10K,
founded the Defense, Safety and Security group within EMC and started the Japan Engineering
organization to support large Japanese customers and OEM’s.

Prior to EMC, Par spent eight years as the Director Technology Strategy, Data Center
Management Group at Symantec and VERITAS. Par founded Symantec’s Japan Engineering
Center focused on engineering specific to Japanese partners and customers.

Par has a degree in Telecommunications from his native home of Stockholm, Sweden.
